Wiz Khalifa is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He’s known for such singles as “Black and Yellow”, “Say Yeah” and “See You Again”. His studio albums include Show and Prove (2006), Rolling Papers (2011), and Blacc Hollywood (2014). Khalifa was born Cameron Jibril Thomaz on September 8, 1987, in Minot, North Dakota. His military parents Katie Wimbush and Laurence Thomaz divorced when he was young. He has a sister named Dorien “LaLa” Thomaz. Khalifa lived overseas throughout his early childhood. The family eventually settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he attended Taylor Allderdice High School.

Khalifa started out writing lyrics and recording his own tracks at a young age. His musical influences include The Notorious B.I.G. and Jimi Hendrix. Khalifa signed with Rostrum Records and his first mixtape ‘Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania’ was released in 2005. His debut studio album, Show and Prove, dropped in September 2006. It was led by the single “Pittsburgh Sound”. Khalifa signed with Warner Bros. Records in 2007. His 2008 single “Say Yeah” peaked at #20 on the Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks. The mixtapes ‘Flight School’ and ‘How Fly’ were released in 2009.

Khalifa’s third album, Rolling Papers, was released in March 2011 by Atlantic Records. The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 and was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA. It was led by the singles “Black and Yellow”, “Roll Up” and “On My Level”. His fourth album, O.N.I.F.C., was released in December 2012. It featured guest artists like Akon, Cam’ron, 2 Chainz and The Weeknd. Other albums include Blacc Hollywood (2014), Khalifa (2016), and the upcoming ‘Rolling Papers 2’ which is scheduled for 2017. Khalifa’s single “See You Again” featuring Charlie Puth was nominated for three Grammy Awards including song of the year. The song was featured on the soundtrack to the film ‘Furious 7’ as a tribute to actor Paul Walker.

Khalifa starred as “Devin” opposite Snoop Dogg in the stoner film, Mac & Devin Go to High School (2012). He was featured in Jean-Claude La Marre’s 2012 western ‘Gang of Roses 2: Next Generation’. Khalifa has made guest appearances on shows like Punk’d, Ridiculousness, and The Eric Andre Show. He voiced the character “Mateo” in a 2016 episode of American Dad!
