Machine Gun Kelly is an American rapper and actor out of Cleveland, Ohio. Real name, Richard Colson Baker, he was born on April 22, 1990, in Houston, Texas. However, he recognizes Cleveland as the origin of his musical success. Being brought up in a missionary household, MGK family moved a lot throughout his childhood. From Egypt to Germany then finally settling in the United States, his childhood was arguably unstable. After settling in Denver, his mother left his father while he was very young. To make matters worse, MGK’s father suffered from depression and unemployment. In Denver, he attended Hamilton Middle School where he was constantly bullied. In 2009, MGK became the first amateur rapper to claim victory at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. His biggest breakthrough came in 2011. After a stellar performance, MGK met Sean “P Diddy” Combs and secured a contract with “Big Boy” and “Interscope Records.”

In 2016, collaboration with 5th Harmony ex-member Camila Cabello would give MGK his biggest hit single yet. “Bad Things” hit the Billboard Hot 100 and would climb and peaked at #10. A third album “Bloom” was released in 2017. It too proved successful in securing its place on the RnB/Hip Hop charts. Featuring artists include Quavo, Ty Dolla $ign, DubXX, and James Arthur. Away from music, MGK made appearances in films such as “Beyond The Light,” “Roadies” and “Viral.” Recently, MGK and Eminem have been beefing with each other. Each has released multiple diss tracks.
