Larry King was a radio and television talk show host. He hosted the ‘Larry King Live’ talk show on CNN from 1985 to 2010. His career accolades include an Emmy, 2 Peabodys, and 10 Cable ACE Awards. King was born Lawrence Harvey Zeiger on November 19, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York. His parents were Jennie and Aaron Zeiger. He had one sibling – a brother named Marty.

CAREER
Larry’s interest in radio led him to Miami, Florida, where he did his first broadcast on May 1, 1957. He legally changed his surname to ‘King’ because his then-boss thought ‘Zeiger’ was too ethnic. King got his big break in 1985 when Ted Turner of CNN hired him to host his own talk show (The Larry King Show).

King also hosted Larry King Now (2012-20) and Politicking with Larry King (2013-20). He appeared in several television programs, including Murphy Brown, Gravity Falls, Frasier, The Practice, Boston Legal, and 30 Rock. King’s film credits include Ghostbusters (1984), The Exorcist III (1990), Enemy of the State (1999), and John Q (2002). He voiced the character “Doris” in the Shrek animated film series.
