Kirk Franklin is a Grammy Award winning American gospel singer, songwriter and record producer. He led the gospel groups ‘One Nation Crew’ and ‘God’s Property’. He was born on January 26, 1970 in Forth Worth, Texas. He was enrolled in piano classes at the age of four. He joined Mt. Rose Baptist Church choir and became music director at age twelve. He studied music at the Oscar Dean Wyatt High School and started the gospel choir ‘The Family’ in 1992.

CAREER
Franklin released his debut album, Kirk Franklin and the Family, on June 29, 1993. The album was a commercial success selling over a million copies and topping the Billboard Gospel Charts for 42 weeks. Whatcha Lookin’ 4, his third and final album as a member of ‘The Family’ choir was released in 1996. The album was certified 2x platinum and earned him his first Grammy Award. He collaborated with God’s Property in 1997 and earned another Grammy for the ‘The Nu Nation Project’. Franklin made his debut as a solo artist in 2001 and released the successful ‘Hero’ album in 2005. He launched his own record label, Fo Yo Soul Recordings, in 2013.
