Kealia Ohai is an American soccer player for the Chicago Red Stars and the US national team. She’s 5ft 5in tall and plays the forward or midfielder position. Her previous team was the Houston Dash.
Ohai was born Kealia Mae Ohai on January 31, 1992, in Draper, Utah. She’s legally blind in her right eye. Her parents are Ben and Cindy. She has an older sister ‘Megan’ who played soccer at the University of Southern California. Ohai attended Alta High School followed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She majored in journalism and mass communication.
CAREER
Ohai played four years of varsity soccer at the forward position at Alta High School. She graduated in June 2010. She also competed in the 100-meter sprint and the 4×100-meter relay. Ohai led the soccer team to four consecutive state championships. She was named NSCAA National High School Player of the Year in 2010. Ohai played four years of collegiate soccer with the Tar Heels from 2010 to 2013. They defeated Penn State 4-1 in 2012 to win the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship. Ohai was named Most Valuable Offensive Player in the process.
Ohai was a member of the United States U-17, U-20, and U-23. She scored the winning goal against Germany to win the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Ohai was selected by the Houston Dash with the second overall pick in the 2014 NWSL College draft. She made her international debut with the US national team in October 2016 in a friendly matchup against Switzerland.
For the 2017 season, Ohai played a total of 10 games and scored two goals. Her season was cut short due to a torn ACL in a matchup against the Orlando Pride. She would return for the 2018 season, scoring 5 goals in 19 games. In January 2020, Ohai was traded to the Chicago Red Stars.

In late 2018, Kealia Ohai made public her relationship with football defensive end J. J. Watt. The couple became engaged in May 2019 and they got married on February 15, 2020, in the Bahamas.
