Jordan Bernt Peterson was born on June 12, 1962, in Edmonton, Canada. His mother, Beverley, was a librarian, and his father, Walter, was a schoolteacher. He has two younger siblings. He attended the University of Alberta, completing his BA in political science in 1982 followed by his BA in psychology in 1984. Peterson served as a post-doctoral fellow at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute from 1991 to 1993. He then moved to Arlington, Massachusetts, where he worked as an assistant professor at Harvard University (1993-98). During his tenure, he oversaw a wide variety of thesis proposals. Peterson returned to Canada in the summer of 1998. He currently serves as a full-time psychology professor at the University of Toronto. His areas of study include religious, social, political, personality and clinical psychology. Peterson’s first book ‘Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief’ was published in March 1999 by Routledge. His self-help book ’12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos’ was published in January 2018 by Penguin Random House. He’s also written or co-written a number of academic papers.
