Joey Feek was an American country & bluegrass singer best known for being one half of the duo, Joey + Rory. She was born Joey Martin on September 7, 1975, in Alexandria, Indiana. Her father ‘Jack’ was a guitar player and her mother ‘June’ was a gospel singer. Feek had four siblings, Jody, Julie, Justin, and Jessie. She moved to Nashville in 1998 to pursue her dream.
CAREER
Feek was signed to Sony Records in 2001 but her debut album was never released. She met ‘Rory’ that same year and the two got married on June 15, 2002. The two formed the duo, Joey + Rory, in 2008. They competed and finished third place on the 2008 talent competition show, Can You Duet. They were later signed to Sugar Hill Records and their debut studio album, The Life of a Song, was released on October 28, 2008. The album did fairly well and the lead single “Cheater, Cheater” peaking at #30 on the Billboard country charts.
Joey + Rory released a total of seven albums including Album Number Two, His and Hers, and Hymns That Are Important to Us. The duo picked up an Academy of Country Music Awards in 2010 followed by an Inspirational Country Music Awards in 2011. They received a Grammy nomination for the best country duo in 2016.
