Joanna Gaines is an American reality television star, designer, and author. She co-hosts the HGTV reality series ‘Fixer Upper’ alongside her husband Chip Gaines. The duo owns ‘Magnolia’ and their book ‘The Magnolia Story’ was published in 2016. Gaines was born Joanna Lea Stevens on April 19, 1978, in Kansas. Her father, Jerry Stevens, owned an automobile business. She has two sisters Mary Kay and Teresa Criswell. Gaines was raised in the lone star state of Texas. She graduated from Baylor University in 2001 with a BA degree in communications.

CAREER
Gaines was inspired to do design while in New York City. During her tenure, she worked as an intern on the CBS program 48 Hours with Dan Rather. Her first job was at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Gaines opened her own boutique ‘Little Shop on Bosque’ in 2003. Her next business venture was ‘Magnolia Market’ alongside her husband. The company sells home decor, kitchen, and garden supplies. You can also shop for paint, rugs, pillows, apparel, and gifts. The couple owns the construction business ‘Magnolia Homes’. Their first remodeling/fixer-upper project was their newlywed home. After that, they started working with clients on buying/remodeling homes. They’ve worked on more than 100 homes. The Magnolia umbrella also includes Magnolia Realty, Magnolia Silos, and Magnolia Journal.

Joanna and Chip are probably best known for hosting the reality series ‘Fixer Upper’. The show premiered on HGTV on May 23, 2013. Joanna handles the design aspect while Chip serves as the head contractor. Four seasons have been completed as of November 2016.
