Gucci Mane is an American rapper and songwriter. He’s released 11 studio albums, 7 EPs and 70+ mixtapes. His discography includes Trap House (2005), Hard to Kill (2006), The State vs. Radric Davis (2009) and Mr. Davis (2017). Mane was born Radric Davis on February 12, 1980 in Bessemer, Alabama. He was raised by his mother in Atlanta. He has siblings, Josephine and Young Throwback. Mane attended Ronald E. McNair High School, graduating in 1998. He attended Georgia Perimeter College briefly but dropped out due to drug related issues.

CAREER
Mane began rapping and writing poetry in his early teens. After spending several years in the underground mixtape scene, he signed with Big Cat Records. His debut studio album, Trap House, was released in May 2005. The album was distributed by Tommy Boy Records and featured the single “Icy” with Young Jeezy. His second album, Hard to Kill, was released in 2006. It peaked at #76 on the Billboard 200 and featured the single “Freaky Gurl”. Mane founded his own record label ‘1017 Brick Squad Records’ in 2007. His sixth and most successful album, The State vs. Radric Davis, was released in December 2009. The album peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200 and featured the singles “Wasted”, “Spotlight”, and “Lemonade”. The album saw collaboration from Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Birdman.

Mane collaborated with rapper Young Thug on the 2014 mixtape ‘Young Thugga Mane La Flare’. His 10th album, Woptober, was released in October 2016 by Atlantic Records. It featured the singles “Last Time” with Travis Scott, and “Bling Blaww Burr” with Young Dolph. His 11th album, Mr. Davis, was released in October 2017 by GUWOP Enterprises and Atlantic Records. Mane landed his first acting role in the 2012 film, Birds of a Feather. He was also featured in the 2012 crime drama, Spring Breakers.

Mane’s legal issues dates back to 2001 when he was arrested on cocaine charges. He was arrested on murder charges in 2005 but the charges were later dropped. Mane landed himself in jail in 2008 for failing to complete his community service. He was arrested on several other occasions from 2008 through 2014. His latest arrest occurred in 2014 when he was charged with firearm possession by a convicted felon. He was released in May 2016 after spending two years in the United States Penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana.
