Donald Trump is an American businessman, investor, television personality and the 45th President of the United States. He was born on June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York. Trump was enrolled in the New York Military Academy at age 13. Upon completion, he attended Fordham University but later transferred to Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
CAREER
Trump started out working at his father’s real estate company, Elizabeth Trump & Son. He gained control of the company in 1971 and renamed it ‘The Trump Organization’. He revamped and modernize the ‘Commodore Hotel’ and relaunched it as the ‘Grand Hyatt’ in 1980. He acquired the ‘Taj Mahal Casino’ in 1988 and completed the 72-story ‘Trump World Tower’ in 2001.
Trump became executive producer and host of the NBC reality game show, The Apprentice, in 2003. He was honored in 2007 with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. NBC ended their business relationship with Trump following his 2015 campaign announcement speech regarding immigrants.
Trump officially announced his run for presidency of the United States on June 16, 2015. His campaign slogan was: “Make America Great Again”. He chose Mike Pence, Indiana’s 50th Governor as his vice presidential nominee. Trump defeated Democratic Party nominee Hilary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. He was sworn into office on January 20, 2017.
