Cress Williams is an American actor and star of The CW series Black Lightning (2018-). He held prominent roles in the series Prison Break, Nash Bridges, Close to Home, and Hart of Dixie. His film credit includes The Doom Generation (1995), Never Been Kissed (1999), and Lowriders (2016). Williams was born to American parents on July 26, 1970, in Heidelberg, Germany. He was raised in Orange County, California. He attended Fullerton College followed by the University of California, Los Angeles.

CAREER
Williams began appearing in plays while at Fullerton College. His stage credits include ‘Othello’, ‘The Elephant Man’ and ‘Red Noses’. He had recurring roles in the Fox television series Beverly Hills, 90210 (1993-94) and Living Single (1993-98). Other early television appearances include Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, NYPD Blue, JAG, and the miniseries Creature. Williams’ film debut was the comedy, The Doom Generation (1995), starring James Duval, Johnathon Schaech, and Rose McGowan. His next film role was as a golfer in the black comedy, 2 Days in the Valley (1996). He had small roles in films Fallen (1998) with Denzel Washington, and Never Been Kissed (1999) with Drew Barrymore.

Williams starred as “Lavon Hayes” in the comedy-drama series Hart of Dixie (2011-15). The show was created by Leila Gerstein and also starred Rachel Bilson and Jaime King. His television credits include ER, Nash Bridges, Providence, Veronica Mars, Close to Home, Grey’s Anatomy, Prison Break, and Friday Night Lights. Williams appeared in the films Ball Don’t Lie (2008), and Lowriders (2016). He currently stars as “Jefferson Pierce” in The CW superhero series Black Lightning (2018-).
