Chris Christie is an American politician, attorney, and member of the Republican Party. He served as the 55th Governor of New Jersey. Christie was born Christopher James Christie on September 6, 1962, in Newark, New Jersey. His mother, Sondra, worked as a telephone receptionist, and his father, Bill, worked as a certified public accountant. He has two siblings, Todd and Dawn. Christie grew up in Livingston where he attended Livingston High School. He earned a BA degree in political science from the University of Delaware in 1984. Christie completed his J.D. at Seton Hall University School of Law in 1987. He was admitted to the New Jersey bar in December 1987.

CAREER
Prior to politics, Christie worked at the law firm ‘Dughi, Hewit & Palatucci’ in Cranford, New Jersey. He worked as an associate from 1987 to 1993. He was named partner in 1993, a position he held until 2001. Christie served as a member of the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders from January 1995 through January 1998. He was appointed by George W. Bush as U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey in 2002. He held that office until December 2008.

Christie defeated incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine to become New Jersey’s 55th Governor. He was sworn into office in January 2010. Christie was re-elected in 2013 for a second term. He announced in June 2015 that he was running for the Republican presidential nomination for the 2016 presidential election. Christie dropped out of the political race in February 2016. He later endorsed Donald Trump. Christie was initially named head of Trump’s transition planning team but that task was passed to Vice President-elect Mike Pence.
