Charles “Chuck” Barkley is an American retired basketball Player, current sports analyst and television personality. He played in the NBA from 1984 to 2000 at the power forward position. Barkley was born to parents Frank Barkley and Charcey Glenn on February 20, 1963 in Leeds, Alabama. He has two brothers, Darryl and John. Barkley attended Leeds High School followed by Auburn University. He majored in business management.

CAREER
Barkley began his basketball career at Leeds High School as a reserve. He landed a starting position on the varsity team his senior year following a 6 inches growth spurt. Barkley averaged 19.1 ppg, 17.9 rpg and led the team to 26-3 record. He was recruited by head coach Sonny Smith for the Auburn Tigers basketball team. Barkley played three seasons with the Tigers from 1981 to 1984. He’s a 3x All-SEC selection, a Second Team All-American and the 1984 SEC Player of the Year. Barkley averaged 14.8 points and 9.6 rebounds for his collegiate career. His #34 jersey was retired by Auburn in March 2001.

Barkley was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the fifth overall pick in the 1984 NBA draft. He averaged 14 points and 8.6 rebounds his rookie season. He was also named to the NBA All Rookie First Team. Barkley played for the 76ers from 1984 to 1992, the Phoenix Suns from 1992 to 1996, and the Houston Rockets from 1996 to 2000. He was selected to 5x All-NBA First Team, and to 5x All-NBA Second Team. He played a total of 11 NBA All-Star Games and earned All-Star Game MVP honors in 1991. Barkley was voted NBA MVP in 1993. He’s also a 2x Olympic gold medalist as a member of the “Dream Team”.

Barkley retired from basketball in 2000. He signed on with TNT in 2003 as a studio analyst. He works alongside Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson on the post-game show called Inside the NBA. Barkley has written a few books including I May Be Wrong, But I Doubt It (2002), and Who’s Afraid of a Large Black Man? (2005). He’s made guest appearance in the series ‘Suits’ and the animated film ‘Space Jam’ (1996) with Michael Jordan.
