Anthony Weiner is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party. He was a member of the New York City Council, and a former U.S. Representative of New York’s 9th Congressional District. Weiner was born on September 4, 1964 in Brooklyn, New York. His father, Mort, is a lawyer, and his mother, Frances, worked as a public school teacher. He had two brothers, Jason and Seth. Weiner attended Brooklyn Technical High School followed by SUNY Plattsburgh. He graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.

CAREER
Weiner began his political career as an intern at Chuck Schumer’s Washington, D.C. office in 1985. He transferred to Schumer’s Brooklyn district office in 1988, where he worked for six years. Weiner ran his first political campaign in 1991 and was elected to the New York City Council. He served the 48th district from January 1992 to December 1998.

In 1998, Weiner succeeded Chuck Schumer as U.S. House of Representatives for New York’s 9th congressional district. He occupied the office from January 1999 to June 2011. Weiner resigned abruptly following a sexting scandal. He lost the race for New York Mayor in 2003 and again in 2013. Weiner was featured in the Syfy film, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! (2015) with Ian Ziering and Tara Reid. He was the subject of the 2016 documentary film, Weiner, directed by Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg.
