Aaron Hernandez was a former professional football player for the New England Patriots. He stood 6ft 1in tall and played the tight end position. He was also a convicted murderer. Aaron Josef Hernandez was born on November 6, 1989 in Bristol, Connecticut. He was of Puerto Rican and Italian descent. His parents were Terri and Dennis. He had a brother named Jonathan aka D.J. Hernandez attended Bristol Central High School where he played both football and basketball. He played three seasons at the University of Florida before declaring for the 2010 NFL draft.

CAREER
Hernandez started out as a member of the Bristol Central High School varsity team. He played various positions for the Rams including wide receiver, defensive end and tight end. He was named Gatorade Football Player of the Year as a senior. That year he recorded 67 receptions for 1,807 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also racked up 72 tackles and 12 sacks on the defensive end. Hernandez played three seasons with the Florida Gators from 2007 to 2010. They won the 2008 SEC championship and the 2009 BCS National championship. His college honors include First-team All-SEC, First-team All-American and the 2009 John Mackey Award.

Hernandez was selected by the New England Patriots with the 113th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft. He signed a 4-year contract with the Patriots in June 2010. Hernandez started the NFL season as the youngest player on any active roster. He played 14 games his rookie season and recorded 45 receptions for 563 yards and 6 touchdowns. He helped the team to Super Bowl XLVI where they lost to the New York Giants. He was dropped by the Patriots in June 2013

Aaron Hernandez died on April 19, 2017 at the age of 27. His reported cause of death was suicide by hanging. He had advanced stages of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) at the time of his death. Hernandez had an estimated net worth of $100 thousand. He got engaged to ‘Shayanna Jenkins’ in 2012 after 5 years of dating. They had a daughter named Avielle Janelle.

Prior to his death, Hernandez was serving a life sentence for the murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. Lloyd was shot and killed on June 17, 2013. Hernandez was also facing first degree murder charges for Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado. Both men were shot and killed in a 2012 drive-by shooting in Boston.
